2 Samuel 7:25

And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

The petition belongs to David's thankful answer to the divine assurance given about his household and posterity. It came when he had been denied the privilege of erecting the temple, yet was met with a promise concerning his own house and descendants. In that setting he turned the promise back to God in prayer, asking that the word spoken about him as servant and about his house be made firm forever. He further pleaded that God would perform exactly what He had declared.
