2 Samuel 7:26

And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

The verse belongs to the grateful prayer offered after the request to build a house for God was denied and divine favor was promised instead to the petitioner himself, to his posterity, and to the kingdom of Israel. In that prayer own littleness is acknowledged, along with the fact that God had spoken concerning the servant's house for a great while to come. The petition asks that the divine name as Jehovah of hosts over Israel be magnified forever and that the house of David be established before God. By this prayer the covenant with God is renewed.
