2 Samuel 9:10

Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master’s son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

Mephibosheth was Jonathan's son. He had been lame since childhood. David's dealing with him kept his covenant with Jonathan, showing kindness to Jonathan's son for Jonathan's sake.

David restored Saul's private possessions to support Mephibosheth's household. Ziba with his sons and servants was to till Saul's land and bring in its produce, so that Mephibosheth's household would have food to eat. Mephibosheth himself was to eat bread at David's table continually, as a constant guest in the king's daily company.
