2 Thessalonians 1:1

Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

The greeting names Paul together with Silvanus and Timothy as the senders to the church of the Thessalonians. It stands within the history of work at Thessalonica in which the gospel was proclaimed while livelihood was maintained by manual labor. That self-support by hand work was to avoid laying a burden on the believers and to leave no ground for suspicion of selfish motives.
