Acts 11:27

And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

The prophets who came down from Jerusalem to Antioch brought a divinely given warning that a famine was coming upon Jerusalem. The famine arrived exactly as foretold, leaving the believers in Jerusalem destitute, with nothing left and suffering for lack of food. The Christians who had been driven out of Jerusalem after the death of Stephen and scattered to other places such as Macedonia were themselves in great trial of affliction and deep poverty after fleeing their homes. Those scattered and impoverished believers were then called to relieve the sufferers in Jerusalem by dividing with them what little they had.
