Acts 13:30

But God raised him from the dead:

This declaration belongs to Paul's Sabbath sermon in the synagogue at Antioch in Pisidia, spoken after the reading of the law and the prophets. In that sermon he traced God's dealings with the Jews from deliverance from Egyptian bondage to the promised Saviour of the seed of David. He preached Jesus as that Saviour, the Messiah of prophecy.

The sermon presents Jesus as the promised Messiah and Saviour. That Messiah was to be a light to the Gentiles as well as the glory of Israel. The Gentiles rejoiced that Christ recognized them as the children of God.

The verse declares that God raised Jesus from the dead after the leaders had condemned and executed him and he had been buried. The risen Jesus was seen for many days by those who had accompanied him from Galilee to Jerusalem. Those eyewitnesses became his witnesses to the people, confirming his resurrection.

His resurrection fulfilled God's promises to the fathers. It fulfilled the prophecies that he would not see corruption and would not return to corruption. Unlike David, who died and saw corruption, Jesus was raised and saw no corruption.
