Acts 14:25

And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

The preaching of the word in Perga followed by going down to Attalia was the work of Paul and Barnabas in continued gospel mission, moving from city to city. It stands near the close of the first missionary journey, on the return leg after preaching the gospel in Derbe and teaching many, then returning through Lystra and Iconium and Antioch.

Their method was to visit every place where an entrance could be gained, with success in saving souls to Jesus Christ. After a large territory was worked they visited again the churches they had planted, before returning to Antioch in Syria, the place from which they had been set apart and recommended by prayer and counsel for the work. On that return their special work was confirming the souls of the disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith, that through much tribulation comes entrance into the kingdom of God, and these experiences were of great value to the churches.

The Christian church must labor in the same way now, setting no boundaries to limit the sphere of labor. It is ever to be making advance moves and meditating advancement, ever educating workers for further conquests for Christ, and ever moving on and on so that the truth may extend to all parts of the globe. Those preparing to be laborers are to study and become familiar with the whole fourteenth chapter of Acts.
