Acts 14:26

And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

After preaching in Perga they went down to Attalia, and from there sailed back to Antioch, bringing their first missionary journey to a close. Before sailing they had commended the newly organized churches to the Lord. Antioch was the place where their mission had begun, where they had been sent out and commended to the grace of God for the work.

That sending commendation had been made by prayer and counsel. Their return to Antioch marked the fulfillment and completion of that work. The grace of God to which they had been commended sustained them in carrying it through.

Their circuit was to enter every place where entrance could be gained and win souls to Christ, having success in saving souls to Jesus Christ. After a large territory was worked they revisited the churches they had planted to confirm them. That circuit is the pattern for Christian labor now, which sets no boundaries to limit its sphere but ever advances and ever moves on. It ever meditates advance moves, ever educates workers for further conquests for Christ, and ever moves on and on to enlarge influence, increase workers, and extend truth to all parts of the globe.
