Brethren Greet Paul on the Road to Romeby KandD

Acts 28:13

And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

After a day at Rhegium a south wind arose and the travelers came the next day to Puteoli, completing the final leg of the voyage to Italy. The voyage from Melita was delayed somewhat by contrary winds but was completed safely, with anchoring in the harbor at Puteoli. Puteoli marked the end of the sea voyage and lies on the coast of Italy one hundred and forty miles from Rome, with constant communication to the metropolis.

A few Christians lived at Puteoli who had received the letter to the Romans and had eagerly looked forward to the visit, not expecting him to come as a prisoner, and his sufferings only endeared him to them the more. At their entreaty the centurion kindly granted the privilege of remaining seven days with the Christians at Puteoli, who welcomed him.

During those seven days word of the approach reached the Christians at Rome, and some of them started out to meet and welcome him. The landing at Puteoli on the journey to Rome was near the spot where a baptism at Puteoli later took place.
