Peter and John Speak to the Crowd at the Templeby KalebRosendahl

Acts 3:11

And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.

The healed man held on to Peter and John and stayed beside them while the astonished people ran together to them in the porch called Solomon's. He had been a helpless cripple for forty years. Those who describe him as lame all his life hold the same long affliction in view.

Made whole, he entered the temple with the apostles walking and leaping and praising God. He rejoiced in the full use of his limbs, free from pain and believing in Jesus. His staying with the apostles drew the crowd's attention to the healing and gave Peter the opening to explain it.

The crowd's great wonder was at the disciples' apparent power to perform miracles like those of Jesus. Peter explained that the man was made whole through faith in Jesus' name and merits, not by the apostles' own power or holiness. The event belongs to the apostles' witness in which their words and works, done under the power of the Holy Spirit, represented Jesus and testified to his resurrection. The disciples served with confidence by joining their weakness and unworthiness to Christ's strength and righteousness.
