Acts 3:24

Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

From Samuel onward every prophet who spoke foretold these days, and those days found their fulfillment in the very events Peter was describing. These are the days of Christ the Messiah, when He would come as the great Teacher sent from heaven, with authority supreme and power invincible. Their prophecies announced that coming, pointing to His mission and work as that which would fulfill the types and shadows foreshadowed in the Jewish ceremonies and system and bring that system to completion as part of the plan of redemption.

He came preaching the gospel, bringing God's judgment and law, and drawing the Gentiles to His light. As the promised Son of God, Teacher and Prophet whom all must hear, He appeared in humility rather than outward display and power, clothing His divinity with humanity and revealing God's purpose for humanity. Together with Moses and the earlier prophets and patriarchs, the prophets testified to His identity and to His mission, suffering, death, resurrection and ascension, showing that the Messiah would come humbly, be rejected and slain, with Christ Himself as the voice speaking through the prophets.

The ceremonies point to Him and have no value apart from Him, for Christ is the key that opens the meaning of the Old Testament. The Passover cannot be fully explained apart from Christ, and the bronze serpent lifted up in the wilderness symbolized Christ lifted up on the cross. These are also the days of Jesus and the restoration of all things, meaning the closing days of earth's history and the last days of the work of the third angel's message. They are the time of the latter rain and the times of refreshing, when repentance and conversion bring the blotting out of sins.

In these last days Satan works with increasing power because his time is short, while God gives diversities of operations through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He continues the gift of prophecy in the church as a living voice to counsel, admonish, instruct and guide His people.
