Believers Pray for Boldness TogetherBible World

Acts 4:23

And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

Acts 4:23 belongs to the account after Jesus' death in which the disciples give clear and bold testimony through the power of the Holy Spirit. It presents their service as moving forward through prayerful dependence on Christ's strength, wisdom, and righteousness.

While Peter and John were prisoners, the other disciples prayed unceasingly for them, knowing the hatred against them and fearing the cruelty done to Christ would be repeated on their brethren. As soon as they were released, Peter and John went to their fellow believers and reported the result of what had happened during their examination. The believers who received them had been anxiously waiting for them.

They responded with great joy and united prayer, asking for greater strength to continue the work of the ministry despite determined opposition. They prayed this way because they saw the ministry would meet the same determined opposition Christ met on earth. They had no desire to glorify themselves, but sought to exalt Jesus and to rescue souls through his saving message.
