The Place Is Shaken as Believers Pray in Acts 4Bible World

Acts 4:29

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

This prayer belongs to the proclaiming of the gospel in Jerusalem, where God bore witness to the message and many believed. It was offered from prayerful dependence, with awareness of personal weakness joined to Christ's strength equipping for continued service. It asks God to look upon the threatenings and grant His servants courage to keep speaking His word with all boldness, unafraid despite threats, accusation, and determined opposition like that Jesus faced.

The strength sought is for ministry and not for personal glory, to continue bearing testimony despite accusation and opposition. It is to proclaim Jesus and witness to His resurrection, and to rescue souls. Along with boldness it asks God to act through Jesus' name with healing and signs and wonders.

The united prayer was answered when the place where they were gathered shook and they were all filled anew with the Holy Spirit. Then they went out courageously to speak God's word with boldness, courage, power, and convincing power. The boldness granted is holy and powerful testimony about Jesus under the Holy Spirit's power, despite opposition to the message. It means to proclaim the word clearly, intelligently, and straightforwardly without becoming discouraged, as seen when men and women go out together to work for Christ.
