Acts 7:20

In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months:

Moses was born at the time when Pharaoh's decree ordering the death of Hebrew boy babies was in force, and he was an unusually beautiful child. His father and mother were devout Israelites of the tribe of Levi, and they kept him hidden and nourished him in their own father's house for three months. They did so because they believed God was about to deliver Israel and to raise up a deliverer, and that faith made them courageous to disobey the king's command.

The verse stands within Stephen's speech in Acts 7:2-53, where he preached Christ out of the Old Testament Scriptures beginning with Moses and the prophets. In that testimony he used the Old Testament as inspired evidence and proof concerning Christ's mission, suffering, death, resurrection, and ascension, clearly establishing by Moses and the prophets that Jesus was the Messiah. Christ is the key that unlocks the Old Testament, for its prophecies, ceremonies, and symbols all pointed to Him, and it was His own voice speaking through the patriarchs and prophets from the days of Adam onward.
