Acts 7:43

Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

Acts 7:43 belongs to Stephen's review of Israel's history and God's dealings with the people. In that review it shows that the law did not preserve Israel from idolatry. The review showed that the fathers persecuted the prophets and that Stephen's hearers committed a greater sin by rejecting and crucifying Christ. It is part of Stephen's prophetic testimony presenting evidence that Jesus, though crucified, is the Son of God.

It was spoken as his final testimony before the council under the direction of the Holy Spirit to hearers who resisted his words. Its significance depends on the occasion, time, and place of the address. The speech ended in Stephen's stoning, to which Saul consented, after which Saul continued threatening and slaughtering the disciples to bring men and women bound to Jerusalem.
