Amos 2:10
Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite. Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
God brought Israel up out of the land of Egypt and led the people onward from that deliverance. He guided them through forty years in the wilderness, sustaining and directing their journey. He then gave them the land of the Amorites to possess as the goal of that leading. That history marked Israel as uniquely privileged, and with the light and knowledge God had given came a corresponding responsibility.
