Amos 6:14
But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness. But behold, the Lord the God of hosts declares His purpose to punish impenitent Israel. He will raise up a foreign nation against the house of Israel. They shall afflict Israel from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness, covering the whole extent of the land.
The affliction is literal invasion and oppression brought as judgment upon those at ease in Zion who trusted in Samaria. It falls upon those whose pride and whose palaces He abhors. In this judgment He gives up their city to the enemy, and He causes their leaders to go first into captivity.
