Daniel 11:21

And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

Daniel 11:21 belongs to the wonderful prophecies recorded in Daniel 7-12, given to Daniel as God's honored ambassador with revelations of the mysteries of ages to come. It was not fully understood even by Daniel himself, and was sealed until the time of the end. It belongs to the closing period of this world's history, connected with the assurance that Daniel would rest and then stand in his lot and place at the end of the days.

The prophecy containing it has nearly reached its complete and final fulfillment. It belongs to the prophecy's approaching scenes of trouble, in a world stirred by the spirit of war. It points toward end-time troubles that will continue until Jesus comes.
