Daniel 11:27

And both these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

The verse belongs to the wonderful prophecies recorded in Daniel 7-12, including Daniel 11, given to reveal the mysteries of ages to come. That prophecy has nearly reached complete fulfillment and has almost reached its final fulfilment. Its final events of trouble were still to come, so it points to a developing prophetic crisis, not a crisis already fully past.

Its words were not fully understood even by Daniel himself, for they were shut up and sealed even to the time of the end. In the closing period of this world's history the seal is opened for understanding. Daniel was given the assurance that he would rest and stand in his lot and place at the end of the days.

The world's warlike condition signals that the prophesied time of trouble is near and is approaching the end.
