Daniel 11:35
And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed. And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
Those of understanding who fall do so to be tried and purged and made white, and this refining by suffering continues even to the appointed time of the end. Their trials and persecution fall within the 1260 prophetic days understood as years of the Dark Ages from 538 to 1798, though the active persecution was shortened and did not fill the whole period, which still ran on to its appointed end. It belongs to the wonderful revelations of Daniel 7 through 12 concerning the mysteries of ages to come, which even Daniel himself did not fully understand because they were to be shut up and sealed until the time of the end, yet he was given the blessed assurance that he would rest and afterward stand in his lot and place in the closing period of this world's history at the end of the days.
The prophecy of which it is part has nearly reached its complete fulfillment and stands approaching its final fulfillment. Much of its already fulfilled history will be repeated, with the scenes it describes occurring again. Its approaching fulfillment signals a soon-coming time of trouble and crisis that is near at hand. That trouble will increase until the end.
