Daniel 12:12

Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

Blessed is the one who patiently waits and comes to the end of the 1,335 days. The promise belongs to Daniel's instruction about the closing period of world history, which was sealed until the time of the end and was not fully understood even by Daniel. It is to be read and heeded, and the wise will understand when the time of the end arrives. Daniel himself was to rest and then stand in his appointed place and lot at the end of the days.

Then the seal would be removed, light would shine upon his visions, and his testimony would be understood. The 1,335 days reach to 1844. As a prophetic period they had already ended, being ended by November 1850, so that to claim otherwise was error.

The preaching of time for 1844 was of God to test and prove the people who heard the warning. It was not in error in preaching time, but the mistake was in the event. Those who preached expected Christ to appear the second time to punish the inhabitants of the earth for iniquity and to purify the world by fire, regarding the earth as the sanctuary to be cleansed at the end of the days, while God hid from them the event that was to take place. After the passing of the time clearer light showed the sanctuary to be cleansed is in heaven, where Christ entered upon the great antitypical day of atonement to cleanse it from the sins of the people by virtue of His own blood. The withholding of Christ's coming to destroy the wicked in 1844 was mercy and loving-kindness, giving still more time to repent of sins and prepare for His coming.

The verse is a warning that God's people must understand before the time of the end. It calls them to study what character they must form and to be ready with faithful character in order to pass through the test and proving of the last days. It rebukes spiritual weakness and backsliding and not knowing what is believed. It shows that ministers who claim to believe the truth but are not sanctified through the truth must change or they will say the Lord delays His coming.
