Daniel 7 Four Beasts and the Throne ChartBible World

Daniel 7:26

But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.

Daniel 7:26 belongs to prophecies of events still to come, which Daniel himself did not fully understand and which were to remain sealed until the time of the end. It is part of what was recorded for coming generations, showing through figures and symbols the history of this world till the close of time. The events it portrays lead toward the close of earth's history and are to be read in their proper order and understood through their historical fulfillment.

Daniel was taught to read the mysteries of the future and given understanding in all visions and dreams because he clung to God with unwavering trust and honored God with firmness, self-denial, and purity of motive. The chapter presents four successive empires, and the power held by those empires in turn is inherited by the beast of Revelation 13. The apocalyptic beasts it depicts arise from the union of church and state and cruelly crush those who oppose them.

When the judgment sits, the dominion of the little horn, which is the papal power, is taken away and consumed and destroyed unto the end. That taking away was fulfilled at the close of the 1260 days in 1798, when the papacy was abolished and the pope was taken captive by the French army. In that fulfillment, on February 10, 1798, French General Berthier entered and took Rome, and on February 15 the pope was taken prisoner and confined in the Vatican.

The sitting of the judgment is a future reckoning in which each person meets the record of their life, with angels now writing the history of every life and character being built for eternity. At that sitting each receives according to the deeds done in the body, so the record must be one to meet without shame, because the influence of words and acts lives on and decides the destiny of souls. In that judgment setting the great Judge pronounces approval and the faithful receive immortal glory.

God's judgment sitting will also bring the power of secret associations to an end, when the books are opened and their unchristlike character is revealed. The sitting is a reckoning for unfaithful parents, upon whom the curse of God rests for failing to restrain and correct their children, planting thorns that wound them here and meeting their own unfaithfulness there. False sympathy and blind love that excuses faults and passes them by without correction leaves children lost, and in that judgment many children will rise up and condemn their parents, charging them with their destruction, with the blood of their souls resting upon the parents.
