Daniel Watches the Goat Strike the RamBible World

Daniel 8:3

Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

The ram standing before the river was shown to Daniel directly by God by the Ulai in the third year of Belshazzar, in 553 B.C., fifty-three years after Jerusalem was taken and the seventy-year captivity began. It belongs to the prophecies of events to come recorded in Daniel chapters 7-12. The chapter 8 vision forms the setting for Daniel's later concern about the 2,300 days, while this verse itself gives no further explanation of the ram. The revelation was not fully understood in Daniel's lifetime but was sealed until the time of the end, its light given especially for the last days. Its foretold events are now being fulfilled and will soon come to pass.
