Daniel 8:6
And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power. And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.
This charge against the ram belongs to a vision received in the third year of Belshazzar, in 553 B.C. It was given directly by God. It stands among the wonderful prophecies recorded in Daniel 7-12 that reveal the mysteries of ages to come. The vision was given especially for the last days. Its full meaning was not understood even by Daniel himself.
Daniel was troubled by the vision's 2,300-day period and mistakenly thought it ended with the seventy years of Israel's captivity. It was among the words ordered to be closed and sealed until the time of the end, with full understanding reserved for the closing period of this world's history. Gabriel later continued explaining the vision by addressing the time period left unexplained in chapter 8. The events foretold in the vision are being fulfilled and will soon come to pass. Daniel himself will rest and again stand in his lot and place at the end of the days.
