And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest’s office in his stead. The verse records that Aaron died and was buried at Mosera, and that his son Eleazar took up the priestly office in his place. His death and burial were simple and private, with only Moses and Eleazar present to witness his death and attend to his burial, and his grave on Mount Hor was kept hidden from Israel. Elaborate display and extravagant expense at funerals do not honor God.
