Deuteronomy 11:2
And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm, And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,
Moses spoke these words as part of his rehearsal of God's instruction to Israel just before they entered Canaan, belonging to the teaching in Deuteronomy 4-11 concerning God's dealings with His people. The call to know this day was addressed not to their children who had not known and had not seen, but to those who themselves had personally known and seen the chastisement of the Lord, His greatness, His mighty hand, and His stretched-out arm. What they had witnessed was both His discipline of them and His mighty acts of greatness, including the miracles wrought against Pharaoh and Egypt, and His mercy when Moses interceded after their rebellion when He was ready to destroy them.
Because of that firsthand experience they were responsible to carefully observe all of God's directions from the greatest to the least and to keep His commandments, so that they might be strong and go in to possess the promised land. The warning set before them was that obedience to God's commandments brings blessing while disobedience brings a curse.
The lessons of the chapter are as important for later generations as they were for Israel. The chapter should therefore be studied, remembered, and shared rather than treated as unimportant, and all who carry responsibilities, including those in sanitarium work, need to understand and take it to heart.
