Deuteronomy 11:31
For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein. For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
Moses spoke these words as part of his rehearsal to the people before they entered Canaan. The promise was that they would pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the Lord their God was giving them, and that they would possess it and dwell in it. That entry and possession were presented as God's gift and purpose for them.
The verse belongs to Deuteronomy 11:26-32, which expresses God's will with requirements Israel was to remember and obey. There God set before His people a blessing if they obeyed the commandments of the Lord, and a curse if they disobeyed and turned aside to go after other gods. The word thus spoken by God to Israel was verified in their history. Because the people disobeyed, only two of the adults who left Egypt entered Canaan, while the rest died in the wilderness.
The lessons contained in the eighth and eleventh chapters of Deuteronomy are of the greatest importance. They are given as truly to people now as they were given to Israel. They teach that obedience brings blessing and disobedience brings a curse. They warn that God will vindicate His word today if leaders depart from His commandments.
