Israelite Refuses a False Prophet's Idolby emmanuel_higgins

Deuteronomy 13:4

Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

In Deuteronomy 13:1-5 the commandments are set before people as a test of character and as the test by which a prophet is proved true or false. Christ kept His Father's commandments and stands as the perfect pattern of the obedience called for. To walk after the Lord is therefore to follow that pattern by keeping His commandments from the heart. The sanctification belonging to such a walk comes through truth, not through emotion or feeling. Every person must therefore search the Scriptures for themselves to know what is truth and to build upon a sure foundation for eternal life. This obedience of the heart includes studying the Sabbath commandment placed in the bosom of the law and carrying out its principles in the life.
