Moses Places the Tablets in the Arkby KalebRosendahl

Deuteronomy 14:25

Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:

The verse belongs to the instruction about setting apart a tithe from increase. It permits turning that tithe into money and carrying it by hand to the place God chooses. The tithe acknowledged that everything belonged to God and kept His ownership in view. A second tithe was devoted to helping the poor and to other benevolent uses. This practice made the people channels of blessing and trained them to overcome selfishness and develop generous, noble character.

The second tithe could be used for missionary work in new places. The tithe could support church school work, and the second tithe could be used for no better purpose.
