Deuteronomy 16:2
Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there. Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the passover unto the LORD thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there.
The Passover commanded here was one of Israel's yearly religious observances, appointed to commemorate God's deliverance of the nation from bondage. It was to be kept at the place God would choose, with the people gathering there together for its observance. Its keeping called for setting aside ordinary work and rejoicing in God's blessings. Worshipers were to bring gifts and offerings in gratitude, giving in proportion to the way God had blessed them. Faithful observance was joined to God's promise to bless their increase and the work of their hands.
