Deuteronomy 18:4
The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him. The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.
The command requires consecrating to the Lord as an offering the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil at harvest and vintage, and the first of the fleece or wool of sheep at sheep-shearing. At wheat-threshing also the firstfruits of grain were to be set apart as an offering to Him. Beneficence was to be shown to Him first by this consecration of the firstfruits. In every matter God must be first.
Liberality was to be shown to the Lord first in this way. The requirement belongs to cherishing liberality both in sustaining His cause and in supplying the needy. He is the true proprietor of fields, flocks, and herds. He sends sunshine and rain for seedtime and harvest, everything possessed is of His creation, and all people hold what they have only as stewards of His goods.
