Deuteronomy 2:12
The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.
Moses recounts this history as Israel journeys past the territories of Moab and Ammon, which they are forbidden to seize because those lands have been assigned by God as a possession to the descendants of Lot. The former inhabitants of the hill country of Seir were the Horims, who were then dispossessed and destroyed by the descendants of Esau, who settled in their place and occupied their land. That displacement and settlement by Esau's line is presented as directly parallel to what Israel itself would do in taking possession of the land of its own inheritance given to it by the Lord.
