Deuteronomy 2:23
And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.) And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
Moses set down the overthrow of the Avim dwelling in Hazerim even unto Azzah by the Caphtorim who came out of Caphtor and dwelt in their stead as part of the Lord's judgments against nations wholly given over to evil. That displacement belongs with those divine sentences in which wicked peoples were cut off rather than suffered to continue. They were destroyed rather than left alive because preserving them alive would have brought only corruption and harm to others.
