Deuteronomy 26:7

And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:

The verse stands in a chapter that lays out God's directions to Israel together with the blessings of obedience. That setting teaches that His people are to recognize His favor and publicly acknowledge Him, since obedience serves their present and future good. Within it the verse is Israel's confession that in Egypt they cried to the Lord, and He heard their voice and looked upon their affliction, their labor, and their oppression.

That hearing and regard for their suffering led to their deliverance from bondage. This testimony of deliverance was to be remembered when they brought the firstfruits of the land God gave them, as a grateful, public acknowledgment of His care, gifts, and goodness. Such presentation of the firstfruits is acceptable only when offered with reverence and gratitude, not as though God owed the offerers anything.
