Deuteronomy 29:11
Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water: Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:
The covenant embraced the whole community standing before the Lord, with little children, wives, and resident foreigners taking their place alongside the leaders of Israel. No social rank was left out, for the gathering stretched from cutters of wood to drawers of water. All who stood there were reckoned among the people bound to the Lord by His covenant and oath. That renewal of the covenant therefore belonged to the entire assembly, not to its leaders alone.
