Deuteronomy 29:24
Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger? Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?
Those who come afterward, both succeeding generations and strangers arriving from distant countries, will look upon the strokes afflicting the soil and will ask what provoked such burning displeasure from the Lord toward this territory. Their inquiry centers on the reason for the severity of the calamity poured out upon the land. The reply is that the people abandoned the solemn agreement established with their ancestors. They turned aside to serve and revere foreign deities whom they had not previously acknowledged. Because of that breach and idolatry, every malediction recorded in the book settled upon the country.
