Deuteronomy 3:10
All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
The verse defines the extent of Og's kingdom in Bashan as taking in all the cities of the plain, all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salchah and Edrei. It belongs to the account of Israel's advance into Bashan and victory over Og, the powerful king of Bashan. Bashan was a powerful and populous land, containing many fortified cities built of stone as well as many unwalled towns.
Its formidable cities and inhabitants tested Israel's courage and trust in God. The defeat of Og helped fill the surrounding nations with fear. That victory over Og, together with the crossing of the Jordan, showed that God was among His people and would not forsake them.
