Deuteronomy 3:13
And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants. And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.
Moses gave Bashan, the kingdom of Og, to the half tribe of Manasseh after taking the whole kingdom, including Rabbah, in his own day, so the later capture of Rabbah by Joab about four hundred years afterward does not contradict that account. Bashan is called the land of giants, showing that people in ancient times were much larger and stronger than people in later generations. The judgments against the nations in this context were necessary because peoples wholly given over to evil would corrupt others if left alive.
The word rendered region for Gilead and Bashan allotted to the half tribe of Manasseh is the Hebrew gheh-vel, meaning territory, country, or allotted inheritance and lot of inheritance. That word is different from the word rendered lot in Daniel 12:13, so this verse does not mean that Daniel stands in his inherited land at the end of the 1335 days. He stands in his lot in the judgment of the righteous dead.
