Moses Charges Joshua to Be Strongby emmanuel_higgins

Deuteronomy 31:14

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

God directed Moses to summon Joshua and to present themselves together at the tabernacle of meeting so that Joshua might receive his charge, and Moses and Joshua complied by going and presenting themselves there. At the tabernacle Joshua was formally appointed as Moses' successor and took up the responsibility of leading Israel. The pillar of cloud stood over the entrance of the tabernacle while the people looked on at this public transfer of leadership. With Moses' death drawing near, the people were filled with sorrow and remorse for their past treatment of him, learned to value his faithful, watchful care, and recognized that their own course of conduct had helped bring about his death. His removal also stood as a rebuke meant to teach Israel not to make Joshua's path as hard as they had made the path of Moses.
