Deuteronomy 32:43
Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people. Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.
Deuteronomy 32:43 belongs to a song that recounts God's past dealings with Israel and foretells what is to come. Moses was commanded by God, even by Christ, to form that song out of the events and dealings of Israel's history.
The song was given so that the history of the past would not be forgotten but would be remembered. It sets up waymarks of His providential care, marked goodness, mercy, and deliverance of His chosen people, to be gathered as memorials and kept in sight. Those memorials were to be taught by parents to children, with the whole story repeated when children inquire, so that the people would remember God's dealings with them.
Its purpose is to inspire every heart with thanksgiving, praise, joy, and gladness toward the Fountain of life and power. He is the One who makes the wilderness a fruitful field for the people who keep His commandments for the glory of His name. The verse itself points to the final victory of the faithful when Christ comes again in power and glory.
The pattern is still to be followed by often recounting His goodness and wonderful works as a wonder-working God.
