Deuteronomy 33:18

And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out; and, Issachar, in thy tents.

The blessing stands within Moses' farewell blessing and prophecy concerning the tribes in Deuteronomy 33, a prophecy concerning the various tribes given as an excellent poem. It is part of Moses' farewell blessings on the tribes.

Chapter 33 is an excellent poem, one of two marvelous and beautiful songs or poems of Moses concerning Israel that close Deuteronomy. The two are the poem in chapter 33 together with the poem in chapter 32. They come after Moses' charges, promises and injunctions and before the record of the death of Moses the great prophet and mighty leader.

The chapter's prophecies concerning the tribes were preserved in song for the people to sing through later generations, recalling God's mercy and goodness. These farewell blessings on the tribes portray the fruits and outcomes of each tribe's character, using symbols, historical references, petitions, and expressions of faith and hope. Moses' farewell blessing is to be read and compared side by side with Jacob's dying prophecy.
