Deuteronomy 7:19

The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

The verse recalls the signs and the wonders, the mighty hand and the stretched-out arm, by which the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt. On the ground of that deliverance it assures Israel that the Lord will do the same to all the peoples of whom they are afraid. It belongs to the instruction in Deuteronomy 4-8 that sets out what God required of His ancient people in order for them to be a holy people to Himself.

The chapter containing it is to be read as a whole, together with Deuteronomy 7:6 and with Deuteronomy 1 and Deuteronomy 8. Its words are written as admonition and instruction for later generations, including those living at the end of the world upon whom the ends of the world are come. It is to be studied now because the world is nearing God's great final review before the Judge of all the earth, when the people of this world must stand to answer for their deeds, and the present is the time of investigation when every character will have been investigated and every case decided for eternity.
