Deuteronomy 9:14
Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they. Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
For their rebellion God several times purposed to destroy Israel and blot them out from under heaven. Moses interceded for them so earnestly that God graciously spared them from that destruction. Moses used that sparing mercy and the great acts they had seen done to Pharaoh and to all Egypt to urge them to keep all the commandments, so they would be strong and go in and possess the land where they were going.
