Ecclesiastes 1:15

That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.

That which is crooked and cannot be made straight is a character deformed by a lifetime of crooked works, leaving crooked lines in the books of heaven that can never be made straight. Perverted appetite is one such deforming power, for indulgence lets appetite become a tyrant that molds and warps a person until the character is ruined and cannot be straightened. The heavenly record is made each day, photographing a person's likeness so that walking apart from God is plainly shown.

Even when a person repents, the crooked lines of a God-dishonoring lifetime are not straightened, and every person will be judged according to works. Christ will pardon the sincere, repentant sinner even with only a few more hours to live, but it is dangerous to run that risk, for he who knew his Lord's will and did it not will be beaten with many stripes. The only safe way is to keep all crookedness out of every business transaction and to let no mark of Satan remain upon the character.
