Ecclesiastes 11:3
If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.
Whether a tree goes down toward the south or toward the north, it stays lying in the very place where it fell, cut down and left prone upon the ground. Its lying there where it fell shows finality, for once cut down there is no further opportunity for it to change its condition. Applied to a person, this pictures one who has neglected spiritual things and exchanged heavenly things for worldly gain, and who is thus lost eternally.
