Ecclesiastes 12:3

In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,

The verse belongs to the appeal to remember the Creator before old age and death arrive. It describes the decline of the body in old age, when strength and senses are lost as life nears its end. The keepers of the house are the hands, which tremble in old age. The strong men are the legs, which weaken and bow in old age.

The grinders are the teeth, which remain few in number and cease to work. Those that look out of the windows are the eyes, which fail and grow dim. These signs warn that the vigor and pleasures of youth soon pass away.
