Ecclesiastes 3:14
I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
What God does endures forever, with nothing to be added to it and nothing to be taken from it, and it cannot be changed. His works are perfect and enduring. This perfection is the same as declared in Deuteronomy 32:4, where His work is perfect.
What He does carries power and permanence whether He acts directly Himself or works through human agents. This unchangeableness stands as assurance of His faithfulness and justice and covenant mercy. Though individuals and nations may separate themselves from Him and fail to receive the benefits He intends, His purpose for those who trust Him remains unchanged.
His work of grace in the heart does not depend on excitement or dramatic displays, but the Spirit's work brings people into harmony with His will and exalts rather than degrades them. Christ's completed work of redemption is joined to His Sabbath rest in Joseph's tomb and to the promised restoration of creation when the redeemed will no longer fall, and the Sabbath will remain a day of rest and rejoicing with heaven and earth worshiping God and the Lamb.
