Ecclesiastes 5:18

Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.

It is good and fitting for a person to eat and to drink and to enjoy the good of all his labor that he takes under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him. Food and drink and the fruit gained from work may rightly be enjoyed during the lifetime allotted by God.

Food, drink, and the benefit of one's labor are a person's allotted portion. The earthly blessings gained from labor may rightly be enjoyed, yet they are not meant to be a final resting place or the source of lasting joy. Earthly good is to be received as a sign of God's love and enjoyed in relation to Him, with God at the center and Christ as the treasure through whom the blessings are received.
