Ecclesiastes 5:19
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God. Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
Riches, wealth, possessions, and material blessings come from God. The power to eat thereof, to take one's portion, and to rejoice in labour is the ability to enjoy what one has and to take satisfaction in work, and both the resources themselves and the power to use them are gifts from Him.
Happiness does not come from wealth or high station but from the God-given ability to enjoy one's portion and find comfort in life. With a sunny spirit one bears small trials and draws happiness from ordinary experiences. Earthly blessings are to be enjoyed but are not to be treated as the source of lasting rest or joy. God is the center, and the Savior is the treasure through whom those blessings are valued.
