Ecclesiastes 7:28

Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.

Solomon's finding belongs to his search for pleasure among those he knew. It stands as a charge against the class of women he encountered in that search. Among them he found fewer women of character and worth than men, finding one such man among a thousand but no such woman.

His conclusion grew out of his experiment with many wives. Among a thousand he found one man, but among all those he found no woman. The lesson drawn from this failure is the damage done by plural marriage. He learned that he had only one whole heart to give. He learned also that one true and loyal love was worth more than his kingdom.
